Default Stories of the GiVA tracks.

So I was at the Cone Fest race this weekend riding my GiVA track board. I love that board. I had a nasty crick in my neck, not enough sleep and getting over a nasty back injury.....so what I'm saying is I was sucking at skating this weekend.....BUT my board rocked as always. Lots of guys wanted to check it out and it, as always, was a bigger hit than me.

I messed up and loosened my rear trucks a little too much and did that ever almost bite me in the butt but the board refused except defeat. I hit the offset in this tight hybrid course and I felt my rear swing behind me super fast and then back again. I thought for sure I was going over backwards and was just waiting to slam but it didn't happen. I was told my board shot sideways on me but somehow I did a nose wheelie and rode it back around the cone. I didn't fall or come out of the course. I was able to keep riding and run the course clean. Yes I lost a lot of speed when that happened but somehow I stayed on and finished the run. It was fuckin' nuts. I don't know how it happened. I'm hoping someone caught it on video. It was insane.

Very sorry to have missed that Jeremy.

Would have been better to have seen that than working through the weekend.

I kept getting asked what wheelbase I was running but never knew. You just get a feel for it riding these boards. I just know where to slide the trucks. It's real cool. I love this board.

So towards the end of the year and for Dixie Cup I finally started using the kick wedge attachment. With the RAds set up on my board and the busing combo and all the wedge was working for me. IN the past I really didn't like the way it felt but now I"m into it. Maybe I'll give the toeblock another try. My front foot did slide a little at Dixie Cup. My foot ended up hanging half way off the inside edge of the board. I was doing all my turning off my front heal. Made the run kind of tough but I made it work. May be time to upgrade to some grippier grip tape. Edger always works for me. I may have to consider getting another one of these boards made up for me in the near future.

So I ran my GiVA track board in the Sizzler slalom race this year. GS, hybrid and tight. One board three disciplines. I ran the GS in the "A" class. That means starting on the big 9 foot start ramp and hitting speeds of 40+ mph on that hill. I swapped out trucks for the GS. I was running Skennett/Airflow combo fully spaced out axles. 40+ on a Bennett front is crazy but it was working. The other races were on Radikals. It's great having different trucks set up on spare plates. Quick swap out and you're good to go. The best thing is I had a good weekend and ended up getting my name in the magazines. First time for that for me. I'm all geeking out and stoked on that.
